Energy Networks Association responds to latest solar storm forecast

10 May 2024

A rare solar storm is forecast on 10-11 May 2024. The current forecast level from the UK Met Office indicates that a significant impact on the UK power grid is unlikely.

A spokesperson for Energy Networks Association, which represents the UK's electricity networks, said:

"The energy industry plans for a range of events far and wide - including into space. We're monitoring the space weather forecast carefully."

Notes to editor

The Met Office provide space weather notifications on their website.
