Energy Networks celebrate commendation for its Biomethane Campaign work

For immediate release – Friday 4 July 2014

Energy Networks Association (ENA) were pleased to receive Highly Commended at the Anaerobic Digestion & Biogas Association (ADBA) Awards on Wednesday, which recognised the growth and development of biomethane as a major part of our long term sustainable role for gas.

The commendation focussed on the collaborative nature of the work that has been carried out since the Campaign began in early 2013, highlighting that the members of the campaign form a cross-sector, specialist team that together have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing the Biomethane to Grid market and posses the combined expertise to overcome them.

ENA Chief Executive David Smith said:

“This recognition reflects ENA and its member’s commitment to the development of biomethane injection into the UK gas grid, and how by working with the other key players in this industry this work will lead to the delivery of sustainable and locally produced gas to homes and businesses well into the future which in turn will deliver energy security and cost effective low-carbon heat, with major benefits for the UK economy.”

Notes to editors

ENA is the voice of the networks representing the ‘wires and pipes’ transmission and distribution network operators for gas and electricity in the UK and Ireland.
