Storm Ciara Press Update

Update: 17.25, 9 February 2020

Storm Ciara has caused damage to network infrastructure across the UK as a result of fallen trees, branches and other airborne debris, and we would like to thank people for their patience as engineers work to establish the extent of the damage and carry out the necessary repairs.

As of 4pm 9 February, power has been successfully restored to approximately 421,000 customers and work is continuing to safely restore power to around remaining 118,000 currently affected as a result of Storm Ciara.

Engineers are working as quickly as possible in what are very challenging conditions. Issues such as blocked or flooded roads are making access difficult and the continuing wet and windy conditions can delay the repair efforts too.

It is very important that if anyone sees a fallen power line they should keep everyone well away from it and call 105 to report it.
