Future of Green Gas in Europe Discussed at Madrid Forum

The European Commission Gas Forum in Madrid has been discussing the significant role that green gas can play in Europe’s energy future and has heard about the pioneering role of the UK energy networks in facilitating this important market.
The forum brought together representatives from European Governments, regulators and the EU Commission to discuss the future of gas in the energy system.
ENA Director of Policy and Gas, and Chair of the GEODE Working Group on the Future of Gas set out the long term role that green gas can play in meeting demand in an affordable, secure and sustainable energy future.
Mr Glover said
“In order to meet the energy challenges that are consistent across Europe we will need a holistic approach which looks at how both electricity and gas can meet demand for power, heat and transport in a sustainable way.
Green gas can complement other renewable technologies in a holistic energy future by providing a secure, low carbon source of energy to heat homes, generate electricity and provide fuel for transport.
The UK has become one of the fastest growing markets for green gas in Europe and our networks are driving forward the innovation to deliver the huge potential of this technology.”
