On Monday 11th March 2013, ENA hosted the Biomethane Roundtable bringing together all the key stakeholders involved in the gas to grid market (DECC, Ofgem, DEFRA, ADBA, CLA, NFU, REA and GDNs) to catalyse commitment to Biomethane injection into the gas grid and to push for a joined up approach from the industry to Government, and vice-versa.
The day saw presentations from Katie Halter of DECC (ORED), Martyn Cheeseborough of the Environment Agency, Matt Hindle then of ADBA, Steve Rowe from OFGEM and Richard Pomroy of Wales and West Utilities (on behalf of the Networks).
Key outputs from the day included the establishment of a group of technical experts who will look at specific issues with regard to the chemical makeup of Biomethane for injection that will be shared by the networks and producer and will develop a "best practice" for the management of CV.
The group will also act as vehicle for the exchange of stakeholder views and information, as a focal point for the industry and a sounding board for government.
