different sources of gas

There are all sorts of different sources of gas we can use as fuel:

  • Coal If you have ever seen a coal fire burn you sometimes see little spurts of flame. These are small jets of gas which come out of the coal as it burns. If you burn coal carefully and collect all the smoke you can separate the gas from it later to use as a separate fuel.

  • Natural gas In some parts of the world, for example under the North Sea, in parts of Russia, or below the Sahara desert, gas is found in huge pockets under the earth. This is called natural gas which can be pumped up and transported all over the world.
