how does it work?
using gas as a fuel

Gas is a form of fuel, like wood, or oil, or coal. When it burns it generates heat, which we can use in different ways.

For example...

  • We can use the heat from a burning gas flame to cook with

  • We can burn the gas to heat a big tank of water to provide hot water for our bath and shower

  • We can use it to heat water to pump round our radiators or pipes under the floor to keep us warm

Can you think of any other ways of using gas at home or at school?
