Response to Energy Minister change

For immediate release – Wednesday 5 September 2012

Responding to the announcement that John Hayes will replace Charles Hendry as Energy Minister, David Smith, Chief Executive of Energy Networks Association said:

"Charles has made an outstanding contribution to UK energy policy not just in government but in opposition before that. His vast knowledge and experience has delivered a balanced and incredibly valuable approach. He leaves very big shoes to fill and will be missed.

"We look forward to working with Mr Hayes going forward and hope to have as positive and constructive a relationship as we had with his predecessor. The networks are enablers of an affordable, sustainable, secure and low carbon energy future, which we look forward to discussing with Mr Hayes."

ENA represents the ‘wires and pipes’ transmission and distribution network operators for gas and electricity in the UK and Ireland.
