ENA voices concerns for "piecemeal solution" to metal theft

Thursday 19 January 2011

On the day that the Metal Theft (Prevention) Bill is published and the Labour front bench declare its support for the measures it outlines, Energy Networks Association Chief Executive David Smith said:

“There can be no doubt that this Bill addresses fundamental flaws in the existing legislation rather than simply papering over the cracks. The problem is multi-faceted and a comprehensive approach is required so that society is no longer exploited by metal thieves. A piecemeal solution is no solution at all and will be ineffective.”
