National Infrastructure Commission will make positive impact for UK investment

For immediate release – Monday 5 October 2015

The Chancellor has today (Monday) announced that Lord Adonis will Chair a National Infrastructure Commission to independently assess the needs of UK Plc from the assets that grow our economy.

Welcoming the announcement, Energy Networks Association Chief Executive David Smith said:

“This is a positive and valuable addition to the development of the policies and priorities that will aid the long term planning of investment in the UK. Our energy networks are amongst the most reliable in the world and through well-planned investment in assets, innovation and skills we have seen improvements in efficiency, safety and a reduction in costs to consumers.

“Lord Adonis is an excellent choice to chair the NIC and will bring a wide range of skills as well as a depth of understanding about infrastructure and the vital role it plays in the long term economic growth of the country.”
