Strong winds cause network damage

Friday 9 January 2015

The strong winds seen in parts of Scotland have resulted in damage to the network infrastructure. The weather remains severe and engineers from the companies in the area will be working as safely and quickly as possible in very challenging and potentially dangerous conditions to get supplies restored.

Network operators have been monitoring the forecast over the past week and making preparations. As part of their routine preparations for significant weather events network operators increased the number of engineers operating in the affected area and deployed additional resources to help deal with the impact.

If you experience a power cut, you should call your local network operator. You can enter your post code on the ENA website to find out who operates the network in your area and their contact details. The telephone number for your network operator will also be on your electricity bill.

It is very important that if anyone sees a fallen power line they should keep everyone well away from it and contact their local network operator.
