Airwave joins ENA as Affiliate member
For immediate release – 24 November 2011
Following the creation of Affiliate Membership to Energy Networks Association (ENA) last year, companies who share an interest in the running of the critical national infrastructure are now able to access and benefit from the expertise of ENA and its members.
Airwave is a leading provider of resilient high quality critical voice and data communications in Great Britain. Airwave built and now operates the largest public safety radio communications network in the world, serving the needs of public services organisations including the emergency services.
Welcoming Airwave to ENA, Chief Executive David Smith said:
“Communications are an essential part of the existing energy networks and as we move towards a more diverse energy future and the need to deliver a smarter network, this role will become even more important.
“Having a close relationship between the energy and communications networks is good for future development of the networks and the access provided through ENA membership will give Airwave the ability to be at the forefront of the changes taking place.”
Airwave’s Director of UK Services David Sangster said:
“We are delighted to have Affiliate Membership with ENA and are looking forward to participating and playing an active role in the industry agendas. With our experience in building critical infrastructures we believe we can provide crucial insight into how communications can play an even more reliable and vital role in supporting the industry when managing their most important assets, both now and as they move to smarter networks in the future.”
Notes to editor
ENA represents the ‘wires and pipes’ transmission and distribution network operators for gas and electricity in the UK and Ireland.
