Bord Gáis Éireann (Bord Gáis) was established in 1976 and is a commercial State body operating in the energy industry. Bord Gáis Networks develops, operates and maintains the natural gas transmission and distribution networks in Ireland and provides gas transportation services to suppliers and shippers, including Bord Gáis Energy. The natural gas network consists of 13,150km of gas pipelines, including two sub-sea interconnectors with Scotland from where Ireland gets over 93% of its gas supplies. This work is carried out on behalf of Gaslink, the independent gas system operator for Ireland. Bord Gáis Networks is also responsible for new gas connections and for work on service pipes and meters at customers' premises.

Electricity North West owns the electricity distribution network in North West England, distributing electricity to customers’ homes on behalf of the supply companies. Serving 2.3 million customers in the North West of England. Customers receive their electricity bill from supply companies who pay Electricity North West for use of the electricity network. Please note: UUE is now part of Electricity North West.

Wales & West Utilities Ltd - formerly part of Transco - was launched on 1st June 2005. As a regulated gas distribution business with around 34,000 km of gas distribution pipelines located in Wales and the South West of England, the company's main offices are in Newport and it serves a catchment area with a population of 7.4 million. Wales & West Utilities' primary role - undertaken on behalf of 'gas suppliers' - is to transport gas to the gas meters of homes and businesses in Wales and the South West of England, from the Northern Welsh border to Cornwall.
