Carbon Capture and Storage

The ability to capture and store carbon dioxide creates a real opportunity for the UK to make progress in achieving its climate change objectives by reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

ENA gas network members, in particular transmission companies, are experienced in all aspects of pipe networks and have access to redundant infrastructure. So they are well-placed to develop onshore pipeline networks for carrying carbon dioxide to storage sites.

At the same time we call on Government to ensure the carbon dioxide networks are regulated strongly to ensure safety and economic efficiency.
