Structure of Charges - EDCM

Common EHV Distribution Charging Methodology

The seven electricity Distribution Network Operator (DNO) members of the ENA are working together towards achieving commonality on their extra high voltage (EHV) charging methodologies and tariff structures, with implemention from April 2012.

The DNOs are jointly developing two Common EHV Distribution Charging Methodologies (EDCM) for customers connected at Extra High Voltage: Forward Cost Pricing (FCP) and Long Run Incremental Costing methodology (LRIC).

The Price Control Group (PCG) has the overall steering function for the project. Reporting to the PCG there is a “central” Common Methodology Group (CMG) with representatives from each DNO.

Under the CMG there are 3 workstreams:

A) Network Modelling.

B) Pricing Modelling.

C) Longer Term Products.

The EDCM Methodology was submitted to Ofgem on 1st April 2011 for implementation on 1st April 2012.
