The remaining 800 customers without power as a result of Storm Henk were all reconnected by this morning (Thursday 4 January) as engineers again worked late into the night.
Since the storm hit large parts of England and Wales on Tuesday 2 January, leading to power cuts that in many cases were caused by falling trees and flying debris, nearly 173,000 customers have been reconnected. This is thanks to the tireless efforts of teams of engineers and technicians working night and day, as quickly and as safely as possible, in often very difficult conditions.
Lawrence Slade, Chief Executive of Energy Networks Association (ENA), which represents the UK's energy network operators said:
"It has been flat out work for our engineering teams since Storm Henk damaged power lines and infrastructure. It is great to see that this work has now been completed safely and that every customer has been reconnected."
With a yellow warning of rain still in force until tomorrow morning, and more than 220 flood warnings issued by the government, the electricity network companies are continuing to monitor conditions closely and respond quickly to any further challenges. However, as of this morning there is no adverse impact on power supplies and the electricity networks are operating as normal.
