ENA has today commented on the progress of the Energy Security Bill in the House of Lords where yesterday Peers passed an amendment tabled by Baroness Hayman, Lord Hollick, Baroness Altmann and Lord Teverson regarding "GEMA general duties relating to climate change" which would empower Ofgem with a net zero mandate.
Lawrence Slade, Chief Executive of Energy Networks Association, said:
“Yesterday's vote in the Lords reinforced the shared view of industry and civil society, that we must have a regulator which is fully aligned with net zero. As we build the energy system of the future, it’s critical that we all pull in the same direction to secure the scale of investment needed in everything from heat pumps to hydrogen and turbines to pylons.”

- ENA had led a coalition of twelve trade associations representing the energy industry and investors in calling for a net zero duty to be given to Ofgem. This coalition includes ENA, Energy UK, Carbon Capture and Storage Association, Hydrogen UK, Nuclear Industry Association, Global Infrastructure Investor Association, Energy Utilities Alliance, Association for Decentralised Energy, Regen, Electricity Storage Network, Renewable UK, and The Association For Renewable Energy and Clean Technology.
